The History Of Zeal Sports

En. Mohd Syahar
The session was started by four individuals from CIMB Investment Bank, Information Technology department staffs which are En. Mohd Syahar, Mr. Lee Chit Wai, Mr. Sin Kim Heng and En. Mohd Zufino almost a decade ago. The group started small with just four permanent members playing at Community Hall, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Kuala Lumpur. When it is getting tougher to get a permanent court there, the session was shifted to Community Hall ,Damansara Utama, Selangor. In order to book the Community Hall, Damansara Utama court, they will have to go all the way to MPPJ located in PJ Old Town and it only allowed us to book two weeks in advance. Another shift looked imminent.

Mr. Lee Chit Wai
Finally, we found a badminton hall which allows us to book 3 months in advance, thus eliminating all the hassle and trouble. The location was Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur. From there the session has grown tremendously. The session reach its peak in 2005 under the session captain Mr. Teddy Tan, with 3 courts consisting of 29 male and female permanent members. In the same year, the session was closed as nobody is willing to take over from Mr. Teddy Tan who resigned as the session captain due to work commitment.

En. Mohd Zufino
After two and half years of silence, Mr. Sin Kim Heng decided to restore the session. It happened in 2008 where the session was restarted with 1 court consisting of 7 permanent members. Now the session has grown again to 2 courts consisting of 22 male and female permanent members.

Due to poor lighting at Stadium Juara, the session captain and committee members have decided to shift the session to Challenger PJ starting from 1st November 2010 onwards. The session will continue with 2 courts consisting of 21 males and females permanent members.

At the end of the voting exercise, Zeal have been declared the winner. The name was proposed by Mr. Teddy Tan. Below are the meaning of the team name Zeal extracted from http://ardictionary.com/Zeal/52.

About The Team Slogan

The selection of the team slogan was created by gathering ideas from the permanent and alliance members. Then a voting exercise was conducted among the permanent and our alliance players to vote for their favorite team slogan.

At the end of the voting exercise, Zero Error Above Limitation has been declared as the winner. The slogan was proposed by Mr. Teddy Tan. Below is the brief description why the creator selected this slogan for team Zeal.

“That is what players from all level are trying to achieve. To have zero error during the game and always play above their own limitation. Special thing if you notice the leading alphabet of each words form “ZEAL” our team name.”

About The Team Logo
ZEAL has had several logos since its renaming & redesign from En. Rosyied & Mr. Teddy Tan. The current official Zeal Logo was designed by En. Iqmal B, and this masterpiece is based on the badminton shuttle cock diagrams and also the human anatomy.

The idea about the logo basically covered in most area of human being value and elements in sports. The logo itself is a reflection of the approach we take towards organizational development for any sports we participate.

Here the first thing you will notice about the logo is definitely the shuttle cock which represents us as a badminton club. Now comes the best part. In line with our winning slogan "Zero Error Above Limitation" if anybody can do this while they are in the court, they will definitely dominate the opponent. In other words win the encounter or being the champion.

Being a champion means being the king of the court and what does a king need? Another view you can found in the logo is a crown. Look closely and you will see the shuttle cock does look like a crown. So we have two things now - a shuttle cock and a crown. This is the beauty about the logo. Two dimension in one spectrum.

What else? There are more to come. If you notice the two curves on the top of the logo actually look like a smiley. It means, besides the games we play we also want everybody to have a great time, fun and a smiling face on and off the court or field.

Lastly, the smiley also looks like two people reaching their hand high in the air celebrating their victory. This is the ultimate satisfaction event whether we win or lose. The best part of being ZEAL is we celebrate each & everyone without losing the spirit of sportsmanship.

Coloring in the logo also has meaning to it.

Red, as you know most of the successfully countries in the world have red color in their flag. Countries like living the American dream, Mighty China, the Great Britain, Japan, our own country Malaysia. We strive to be a successful club in the future in all departments. Yellow is usually used to represent the royalty status in Malaysia, emperor in China and also to show glamour, rich and high status.
